Baptist Hospital:
A Message From The CNO
Becky Montesino, RN
BSN, MS, CENP
Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer
Baptist Hospital/Baptist Children's Hospital, with 680 licensed beds, is the largest healthcare facility of the five hospitals within Baptist Health South Florida. Ninety-six new cardiac and neuroscience inpatient beds were recently added, along with a new Emergency Center featuring 80 treatment rooms for adults and 20 more designed especially for children.
Since 1960, Baptist Hospital of Miami has been one of the most respected medical centers in South Florida. Italian Renaissance architecture and beautiful grounds offer a warm, welcoming atmosphere, while a full range of sophisticated medical services attracts patients from around the world. This is where a highly qualified nursing staff, equipped with the finest technologies available, provides a model for treatment capabilities that is equaled by few other community hospitals.
In 1998, Baptist Hospital was recognized as a Magnet hospital for Nursing Excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. We were the first hospital in Florida, and the eleventh hospital in the United States, to receive this prestigious designation. Baptist Hospital was re-designated by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in 2002, and again in 2006.
The foundation of our nursing practice is based on Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring, with a goal to nurture our most precious resource: competent, caring professional nurses. We have a strategic roadmap for success, which includes initiatives to recruit, educate and retain quality nurses through enhancements to overall job satisfaction. We invite you to join us now as Baptist Hospital continues to transform and expand with opportunity.
