Vascular Access Nurse Coordinator –
Assesses the physiologic parameters of vascular and hemodynamic status to include, but not be limited to: peripheral vascular studies, hemodynamic data, peripheral pulse assessment, laboratory results, ECG, X-rays, vital signs and fluid balance.
Collaborates with medical and nursing leadership team to develop written policies, procedures and protocols for Vascular Access program.
Collaborates with physicians, case managers, and clinical nurse supervisors to identify patients that require vascular access at bedside.
Consults with patient/family members/guardians regarding the insertion of the vascular access device.
Educates and mentors selected personnel on vascular access care and maintenance and acts as resource to physicians and staff.
Inserts peripherally inserted central catheters as directed by a physician’s order.
Involved in the management and education of vascular disease processes including, but not limited to, vascular access options, risk factor modification in addition to counseling of patients and family education.
Participates in the development of individualized plans of care and ongoing follow up.
Updates physicians, as necessary, regarding patient’s individual needs to ensure continuity of care. Identifies opportunities for improvement in vascular access care utilizing data analysis, clinical knowledge and evidence based practice.
Maintains records of data collection, analysis reports and action taken to resolve identified problems.
Provides accurate statistical information to nursing and other hospital departments for use in bench marking and reporting to outside agencies.Degrees:

Licenses & Certifications: 

  • PICC Insertion
    Registered Nurse
  • Additional Qualifications:
    A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred. Minimum 3 years of acute care hospital experience. 
  •  Infusion Nurse Certification (CRNI) preferred. 
  • PICC Insertion Certification required. 
  • Minimum of 5 years acute care experience, critical care experience preferred. 
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills required. Computer and database management background preferred.
  • Minimum Required Experience:
    5 Years
