Job Function:

Essential Function – Patient Scheduler 1 –
Ensures accurate scheduling utilizing current delineation of privileges and/or patient preferences for patients. Obtains a copy of the prescription for therapy and ensures that this information is documented.
Files and retrieves department and/or patient records.
Generates and distributes the schedules within designated timeframes. Reviews and prints future schedules on a daily basis.
Notifies appropriate person of any additions, cancellations, delays and/or emergencies. Updates and maintains the scheduling system accurately. Assures that the waitlist is called every other day to decrease the delays in scheduling.
Obtains insurance information and/or verifies insurance and personal information. Notifies leader of any insurance ineligibility issues. Verifies physician orders and/or obtains prescriptions as needed.
Performs other department specific functions.
Prepares and assembles patient charts/surgical packets/medical records and submits as needed. Ensures that it is up to date and completed properly.
Registers patients. Enters and/or updates patient data in the computer system to maintain accuracy for data integrity. Contacts referral source if clinical and/or demographic information is incomplete.
Schedules initial, follow up and add-on appointments, procedures and/or tests by phone or in person using automated scheduling system.

Marginal Function – Patient Scheduler 1 –
May log and track procedures, tests and/or other department information
Participates in performance improvement and quality control programs
Participates in unit governance and other committees
Troubleshoots office equipment and follows up on repairs/maintenanceDegrees:
High School,Cert,GED,Trn,Exper

Additional Qualifications:
Experience in Healthcare and/or Customer Service setting, Surgery preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Scheduling Systems (i.e. Net Access, Centricity, Pathways Healthcare Scheduling, Chartlinks etc.). Medical Terminology required. Experience with high volume calls. Excellent verbal and written communication. Excellent interpersonal and customer services skills. Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task.
