Job Description:

The BMT Nurse Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all clinical activities in collaboration with the physician leader, referring physicians, manager and interdisciplinary team.  This position will provide coordination, education, and preparation of all the transplant candidates.  The incumbent will provide clinical support for the transplant physicians and communication with referring physicians.  This position facilitates patient and caregiver preparation, including evaluation of individual needs, making appropriate referrals, education and obtaining consents, coordination of the appropriate treatment plan and transplant schedule.  This position follows the patient throughout the entire transplant experience.  This position functions as an integral part of the transplant team and must posses organizational skills sufficient to prioritize  and facilitate team work progress.  Fostering patient and family centered care and working in respectful, supportive and collaborative ways with the patients and their families.


State of Florida RN license required; Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN) required.  BMTCN or CTHC certification preferred.  Experience and knowledge of oncology care and transplantation.  Significant clinical experience in BMT is required including knowledge in both autologous and allogeneic transplant with knowledge in Graft-vs-Host Disease, educational strategies and knowledge of the unique needs of the transplant population.  Demonstrated knowledge of the coordination of services of a multidisciplinary team and skills in patient education, consulting, teamwork and collaboration are necessary.
