Sports & Recreation
South Florida is the perfect lifestyle destination for sports lovers, beach lovers, nature lovers and fun lovers of all kinds.
Miami and the surrounding areas have some of the top professional and college sports teams in the nation. Each new season puts a different team in the forefront, as the Miami Marlins, Miami Dolphins, Miami HEAT and Florida Panthers all capture our attention. Other spectator sports in South Florida include horse racing, dog racing and jai-alai.
Our region also plays host to major events like the Sony Open Tennis Tournament, the WGC-Cadillac Championship, and NASCAR and Indy car racing at the Miami-Dade Homestead MotorSports Complex.
With 500 public parks, miles of beaches, countless marinas, dozens of local public and private golf courses and endless bike and nature paths, it's no surprise that outdoor recreation is a favorite pastime in South Florida. The Atlantic Coast is a fisherman's paradise. You can fish off of a pier or jetty, or go out on a charter boat for some serious sport fishing. The daily fishing report is required reading if you want to get the best catch.
But perhaps the crown jewel of our fabulous lifestyle is the selection of beaches we enjoy. Every beach has its own personality, just like the sun lovers who go there. Some beaches are ideal for family activities, while others are best for relaxing. There are quiet spots, tucked away along the shore and a few dog-friendly spaces for fun with your loyal companion. Explore the beaches of Fort Lauderdale and Greater Miami to see where you might find your favorite.
